This has been a lot of fun to write .I had been reading a lot of light fiction when I thought that I should write in this genre. But I had become disenchanted with super-hero type characters who never make mistakes and plots which are so perfectly controlled as to be unreal.
I decided that the style of Nevil Shute was more credible if less commercial. He used ordinary people facing situations where their honesty and integrity made them pursue certain courses of action. This meant that plot lines should develop from the characters and their interactions rather than have characterisation follow the plot.
